Keep your eyes peeled tomorrow for a COMPREHENSIVE THREAD discussing positions available and taken, time of the official start of the ball, schedule of events, and official welcome and introduction to my own created lore on the event as well as the future of the ball. The thread will be posted around 2-3PM EST, so you can expect it there. I need to meet with some donors, and donations will still be expected. Much planning still needs to be finalized, and once the staff is selected, I will need to have some practice days with the staff on where to stand and what to do. The ground rules will also be included in the thread. They are not harsh, and because I cannot inforce them directly, I simply hope and ask very kindly that you be civil and abide by those rules so that the event runs smoothly and we all have a WONDERFUL time. Being the first ball in a longtime, a theme will be presented in the thread, and more detail opening speech of the ball, but you have to attend to know the concept and understand the theme. Similar to old style balls of the past and current high school proms, the theme is the central focus of the ball, it is what shapes the ball to make it memorable.

The wonderful theme will be announced tomorrow. Trust me when I say, that the night of the Ascalon Royal Family Masquerade Ball will be a night that will be remembered for many years to come! A night of fun, dancing, costumes, frozen in time from screenshots, remembered by all.

I am going to write ArenaNet an email requesting redecoration of Serenity Temple in a ballroom theme, specifically white lights and a few torches (similar to the dragon festival, just white instead of red) Hopefully they will oblige! If not though, fun will still be had, and the events full of joy and community fun. This ball is my gift to the community. The theme will tie us together, and form a passage into the future of Guild Wars as we know it.

Now, I have much work to do in preplanning. I bid you all good eve and pleasant dreams.

Rahja.

Haahaaha I'm bursting with excitement!!! I ran my Dervish all the way from LA to Serenity Temple yesterday. I also vowed to never do it again. It took awhile so this festival better be worth the effort.

I'll probably just be there enjoying the party instead of helping (A Party Animal I Am!!!)

*goes off to run droks to buy ale and sweets*

Good lord have mercy, I think I may just pass out! @_@

Are you sure about this? That is an awfully large amount of gold... I mean, don't get me wrong, I can really up the prizes and festivities with that, but... that is being awfully generous. I added you to friends, we discuss this further ingame. >.>

i can farm quansong focus's for you if you want... (i can also farm razjhans fervor and sskais sword...) tell me which you would prefer and how many :P

Personly prefer sskais... but theyr cheap
Swi, Thanks a lot. I think Razjhans Fervor is a great choice, as many monks like it, and casters alike. Get 2-3 of Sskais swords, and 5-6 Fervors for the party, that should fit the bill.

I am getting a lot of responses, but there is a bit of confusion or dilemma getting the references. Basically, I need 5 people on Guru to PM me a reference about you.

The PM Subject line should read as follows: "Reference for (your name here) for (position being applied for here).

Inside the PM, person should just mention you are trustworthy, and perhaps note an instance where you have been trusted or shown maturity and respect for your fellow GW players. If you have a reference from a Mod/Admin, that counts as 5 references. If your guildies do not have a guru account, have them email your reference at my email> [email protected]

If you want to apply for a position, either PM me here on guru or email me at the above email address. If emailing, please leave your IGN and forum name as well as what position you wish to apply for. Thanks!

You should also write to have the npcs dressed up like ambassadors at a mask party would. That'd fit perfect with the theme and it look cool too.

Oh and if we have it on april 28th we could have NPCs sing Happy Birthday to Guild wars lol!

Hi.
I'd love to come to all this and all, but I'm not going to be able to come a midnight. I'd love a job, but I'm a new player and all, and I don't have any references. I just want to help, and join in with something. I have a few crap items I'd be happy to donate, as I'm new I haven't really got anything of value.

Hey guys and gals. This event is really gaining popularity! A BIG THANKS TO INDE for linking our event on the MAIN PAGE of guru! http://www.guildwarsguru.com/

Go Inde! Inde, once I launch the OFFICIAL thread, you should probably relink to it and close this one up. The official pre event thread will have much more finalized information, will be well put together, and have a complete event schedule with times etc. Look for it in 1hr 15 minutes or so.

I can rummage though some of my "junk" (its not that bad) for some knickknacks, ive got stupidly large supplies of festival treats - Be good to fill the storage.

Also being a masked ball (I love the drama) Would there possibly be an opening for an announcer type. The sort of person you wisper and s/he shout "Lord Leo of Cantha" to annouce your arrival...Like I said, I love the drama ^^

Also perhaps herals to visit ALL (yess ALL) the town, missions and outposts of the world to annouce the ball...

I'd happily sign up for the job if you want - Thou 3Am may push it 2am is about my limit ^^

Don't worry, all shall be made clear. Let me begin the process. Mod! Could you please seal this thread up? It is time to launch the more official Pre Event thread that will be ready for posting until we shut down the lights of the event and beyond!

This is very interesting, particularly the guy who's donating 1,000,000 gold:

There are a great number of people in the GW community who have a great deal of gold/ecto with no real use for it than to buy trinkets (and really, everything is a trinket; you can get ANY item you want in GW for <10k if you don't worry about appearances), anyway, here we have one person who decides that they could find a use for their imaginary money to make others happy.

Perhaps if there were some system of paying HUGE amounts of money to stage events like this in-game people would party more and buy more stuff (Factions fireworks were pointless as nobody was ever there to use them). After all, what's more prestigious, having a rare sword, or throwing a party that 200 people attend and remember?

Anyway, It sounds like a fun event and I'll try to attend in my masquerader's gear I just hope the relevant guests manage to turn up to the The Ascalon Royal Family Masquerade Ball. (The living ones at least).
